We will not widen the search to reach a number. Widening geography is the easiest way to manufacture a comparable set, and it destroys the local signal you came for.
Also real. About two questions in five get this answer today, and it is the honest one — older, cheaper cars are genuinely thin in the archive.
What it will and will not do
- It reports asking prices, not sold prices. Every screen says "market ask", because that is what public listings are. Anyone claiming transaction accuracy from listing data is guessing.
- It refuses when it does not know. Under five comparable vehicles you get the list of what was found and no number. A tool that admits its limits is the only kind worth believing when it does answer.
- It never widens the radius to find you an answer. Widening geography is the easiest way to manufacture a comp set, and it destroys the local signal you came for.
- It shows its work. Every comparable vehicle names the dealership it came from and links to that dealership's own listing.
Price comparison works — the reading above is real, and there are currently 19,600-odd vehicles in the archive across the eight counties of southeastern Michigan. Days-on-lot does not yet — knowing how long a specification takes to move requires having watched it, and that time cannot be bought or backfilled. The collector notes every car that leaves, every night, from 3 September 2026 onward. Those numbers get steadily more useful with each week behind them, and that is the reason to start now rather than later.
